This 3400 square foot home was built by Riverbend Builders for a family that includes an artist and visiting adult children and grandchildren. The spacious 4 bedroom home offers the owners plenty of space for family gatherings as well as room for an airy art studio.

Set on a sloped hillside on Sourdough Ridge, the home site required a prominent retaining wall, which we built from board formed concrete and incorporated built in planters to the structure. The views from this property are stunning so we used Unilux windows for their clean, modern appearance, durability and “tilt and turn” functionality.

The interior finishes found in this home are simple and elegant, with knotty alder shelves in the closets and pantry, exposed structural beams and steel accents contrasting warm neutral tones throughout. The exterior siding is vertical rough-sawn fir, providing easy maintenance for years to come. We even worked reclaimed posts into the exterior details in several locations, while staying true to the home’s unique style.

For energy efficiency, this house features Nexcem insulated concrete wall forms throughout the main level and garage. These forms create a heat sink in the walls and help maintain a consistent temperature in the home in any season. A Tulikivi stone fireplace is positioned centrally between the living room and kitchen, creating an insulated envelope and adding comfort during the winter.

This beautiful home was designed by Thor Arnold of Zimtor Architecture.
