Besides its general energy efficiency, the Taylor House can also be monitored remotely. When the family decides to visit, they can turn up the heat before they get there. When they do arrive, a Tulikivi will take the chill off the rooms quickly, a great feature for people who travel frequently and enjoy winter sports.

The exterior finishes of the Taylor House hosts a combination of wood siding, stucco, and a stone veneer compiled of stones that were gathered from the home site and require no maintenance. Inside, stained concrete floors, reclaimed timbers, and plaster walls add comfort and durability. The home was designed by Thor Arnold of Zimtor Architecture.
